Mary

Pictured here is Leah’s maternal grandmother, Mary, in Cleveland’s historic Kinsman neighborhood in the mid-1950s. She moved from a small town near Atlanta to Cleveland as a child, married her childhood sweetheart, raised a family, and built a career in healthcare. Her story reflects those of thousands of Black women in Cleveland who built families and neighborhoods within a city that did not always offer opportunity in return. Her legacy is one of fierce love, unwavering loyalty, deep faith, and an indomitable spirit.

Her influence is woven throughout The Legacy Perspective, from its smallest details to its largest ideas. She is the first face prospective clients encounter, a quiet introduction that speaks volumes, the matriarch and the north star. Even our visual language carries her presence: the distinctive typeface used across our work is a digital recreation of her handwriting, drawn from her personal letters.

We call it Mary’s Font.
